We’re at the Big Data and Analytics Summer School

A number of our staff and researchers will be leading sessions as part of the summer school lead by the Institute for Analytics and Data Science.

The IADS Big Data and Analytics Summer School is taking place between 5th – 16th September at the University of Essex. The event is for graduates, postgraduates, researchers and professionals in the emerging fields of big data, data science and analytics who would like to find out more or be updated on the current trends and developments in this exciting and fast-developing field.

The following sessions are being led by staff and researchers from the Centre:

BD008 Building agent based models for theory and empirical research, Dr Abhijit Sengupta (University of Essex) on 5th September
BD004 Machine learning with Mahout, Richard Skeggs (Business Data Manager at BLG Data Research Centre) on 5th September
BD036 A hands on introduction to spark, Richard Skeggs (Business Data Manager at BLG Data Research Centre) on 6th September
R and databases, Richard Skeggs (Business Data Manager at BLG Data Research Centre) on 7th September
BD007 Big data and finance, Professor Neil Kellard (University of Essex) on 7th September
BD017 Clustering and applications in R, Professor Berthold Lausen (University of Essex) on 8th September
BD012 Introduction to meta-analysis, Professor Elena Kulinskaya (University of East Anglia) on 12th September

In addition to the taught sessions the Summer School also showcases four keynote speakers. Staff and students of the University of Essex are very welcome to attend these events alongside the Summer School participants.
