The Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership (now known as The Business Board of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority) acknowledges the support of the ESRC Business and Local Government Data Research Centre at the University of Essex, which provided funding and access to academic expertise that enabled GCGP LEP to explore an innovative research project that may help to unlock new opportunities.

For the Data Needs Analysis Project, the Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership worked with Dr Misagh Tasavori (Essex Business School) and Maryam Rezaei (Southampton University). The main focus of the project was to align GCGP LEP’s data requirements with its policy objectives. The finished report will go some way to inform GCGP policymakers to estimate impact and determine gaps in policymaking to guide the development and delivery of future programmes.

John Stenhouse, Programme Manager comments:

“This project has provided us with a data-driven approach which has now allowed for our data to best inform our strategic planning and ongoing decisions. We can now better attract inward investment and have successfully made our area a more desirable place to live and work. This would not have been possible without the use of our data and expertise provided by the Centre. Our data needs have informed our key strategic decisions and policy objectives, this project has really helped us.”

The Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership is focused on helping to drive forward sustainable economic growth in their area – with local business, education providers, the Third Sector and the Public Sector working together to achieve this. The Enterprise Partnership is funded via Central Government to bring infrastructure and other deserving projects to benefit the local economy, driving growth and employment.
