ESRC call for outline proposals for the Secondary Data Analysis Initiative Phase 3
27 January 2015
The ESRC call for the third phase of the Secondary Data Analysis Initiative (SDAI) is now closed. The aim of this call is to deliver high-quality, high-impact research through the deeper exploitation of existing data resources.
The UK has a world-leading data infrastructure for social and economic research that provides a huge opportunity to address some of the most pressing challenges facing society today and into the future. The Secondary Data Analysis Initiative aims to deliver high-quality high-impact research through the deeper exploitation of major data resources created by the ESRC and other agencies.
Following the success of the first two phases of the initiative, the ESRC are now inviting applications for Phase 3. The grant will enable researchers from any social science subject area to undertake smaller, focused, impact-generating projects using any pre-existing dataset, with funding of up to £200,000 for a maximum of 18 months.
The ESRC are particularly looking for applicants who plan innovative and creative use of data and methodologies. The successful project must use ESRC funded data resource such as those offered by the BLG Data Research Centre.
Deadline for outline proposals is 16.00 on 27 January 2015. Proposals will be initially reviewed by a sift panel in March 2015 and decisions announced in late March/early April 2015 by the ESRC.
